Job Overview

The Physical Therapist Senior assists with the Supervisor in the oversight of clinical functions for the department. May assist with administrative and operational functions within the department as needed. Assists the supervisor with identification and follow through of clinical performance improvement and participation in activities to ensure clinical quality. Assists and supports staff in goal attainment at the personal, clinical, departmental and organizational level through direct clinical supervision.

Oversees and assists in clinical education and training within the department. Establishes and maintains open communication with Clinical Lead team for support of clinical development and growth of staff as needed.

Qualifications Required:
  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • NJ Physical Therapy license
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • Evidence of continuing education as necessary to meet licensing and certification requirements as well as current best practices
  • Demonstrates clinical excellence and leadership ability
  • Evidence of good time management skills and the ability to make effective decisions
  • Maintains a positive attitude and has excellent communication skills
  • Ability to influence, guide and motivate staff
  • Demonstrates tact, initiative and judgment in performance of duties
  • Professional membership of discipline
  • Physical stamina to lift, maneuver patients and equipment
Preferred:
  • A minimum of five years clinical experience with pediatric population
  • Rehabilitation experience
  • Previous clinical supervision experience in the profession
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams
Scheduling Requirements
  • Full Time
  • 40 hours/week
  • Expectation to work 12 weekend days per year
  • Flexibility in work hours
Essential Functions
  • Takes primary role for clinical supervision and mentoring
  • Orients new staff to department clinical procedures, provides clinical supervision to staff, aides, PCTs
  • Provides clinical input for 90 day review, Career Development, Personal Development Plans, and APR process
  • Assists in clinical in service training and competency completion
  • Assists with maintaining relevant department manuals and education records
  • Ensures excellence of clinical evaluations, goal development, treatment and discharge planning through regular case review, observations and documentation monitoring
  • Assists the clinical department with identification, coordination and execution of organizational clinical specific projects
  • Assists with developing a process for recruitment retention of experienced clinicians throughout the organization
  • Assists with policy and procedure development
  • Manages caseload and provides effective assessment and intervention for a variety of diagnosis according to best practice standards and family centered care principles
  • Models and ensures that staff embrace and integrate a family centered approach to treatment whereby the plan of care is developed in partnership with the families and reviewed on a regular basis
  • Ensures that all families are integrated into the treatment sessions
  • Assists with the interview process
  • Assist with customer service issues related to patient care
  • Coordinates other responsibilities as designated by the Supervisor
  • Maintains good communication with clinical supervisor and staff to ensure the integration of clinical and operational functions
  • Partners with the Supervisor and Clinical Lead team to identify clinical staff development and education needs
  • Clinical supervision for department staff, aides and students at assigned sites as identified by Supervisor
