Water Department Superintendent

General Duties

To meet the needs of the Village in maintaining the water distribution system and coordinating those activities with other departments to assure maximum results. To assist in the planning of future upgrading and development of the water distribution system. To work cooperatively with all other Village personnel.

• Possess a State of Ohio CDL license.
• Possess, at minimum, a Class I State of Ohio Water Plant Operator's License.
• Ability to understand the basics of the water distribution system.
• Ability to operate and/or install all equipment necessary for water distribution operations.
• Ability to work with other political subdivisions cooperatively.
• Ability to provide routine maintenance on waterlines, valves, pumps, water reservoir, water tower, and water control equipment.
• Ability to follow directions and be a team player.
• Ability to be pleasant and work with all community residents.

• Maintain and repair all water mains, valves, and curb boxes.
• Purchase, install, and maintain all Village water meters.
• Install, repair, and replace fire hydrants.
• Record and maintain accurate water distribution records.
• Perform and record accurately all samples and testing required by
• Prepare and submit all governmental reports pertinent to water distribution in a timely manner.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials necessary to maintain Village water systems.
• Complete final water meter readings as required.
• Complete daily chlorine testing at plant and in system.
• Install water taps for Village water systems as requested.
• Operate Village heavy equipment; backhoe, etc.
• Assist in maintaining Village equipment and vehicles.
• Coordinate and supervise all activities pertaining to the Water distribution department to include major water projects.
• Supervise seasonal help when being used in the water department.
• Assist when needed as schedule allows in the Village Wastewater Department or Village Street Department.
• All water turn-offs or turn-ons for maintenance, delinquent utility
• Other duties assigned by the Village Administrator
