SummaryThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. He or she must have knowledge of each product area or department in the store, assist in determining methods to accomplish store goals, uphold policies, procedures, and standards listed in the visual manual, promote sales and promotions, and serve as an ambassador of Hibbett I City Gear, creating a unique customer experience to acquire and retain long‑time customers.
The Manager in Training assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager's absence and is trained in the Store Manager's responsibilities.
- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department's responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager's responsibilities.
- Provide extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including assisting customers upon entry and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and related memos.
- Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risk.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team‑player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
