American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 36-bed unit, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications along with cardiac and pre/post cath experience.
Details- Med/Surg Telemetry unit (8AB) in an acute care hospital setting
- 36-bed unit with a higher-than-average cardiac patient population, including chest pain/cardiac rule-out (stress test, Echo), CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac cath patients, and alcohol detox patients
- Cardiac drips administered include Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin; no pressors used
- Lines and devices include JP drains, occasional stable chest tubes, ports, and PICC lines; no specialty lines or vents
- Oxygen support limited to nasal cannula; acute O2 needs are transferred; chronic BiPAP/CPAP patients may be present
- Occasional chronic trach patients; no ventilator management
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
- EMR:
Epic - 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend (EOW), every other holiday (EOH)
- Unit secretary available Monday–Friday, 7a–3p; 2–4 PCTs on the unit depending on volume and staffing
- Night shift charge nurse takes a patient assignment; day shift charge is variable based on census
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior telemetry or med/surg telemetry nursing experience required
- Pre/post cardiac cath experience required
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips required
- Proof of address and a supervisory reference required for consideration
- Candidate's full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Driver's license or other government-issued proof of address required for consideration
- Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required on first day with two attempts allowed to pass; a study guide will be provided
- Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Delivers patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Manages patients with multi-system conditions, titrating drips and adapting to rapidly changing patient conditions
- Serves as a point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and acts as a patient and family advocate
