Job Description

Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Assisting in planning and directing the work of non-RN staff.
• Utilizing age-specific criteria in patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of experience in nursing (required).
• Post-operative open heart care experience (required).
• Critical care experience (highly preferred).
• Chest tube and other drain management experience (required).
• Experience with pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access (required).
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips (required).
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities (required).
• Experience with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wires, and management of temporary pacers (required).
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (required).
• Active Ohio or Compact RN License (required).
