Registered Nurse - Post-Operative Open Heart Care Assignment Details

This is a 13-week contract position.

Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on the shift. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff.
• Manage post-operative open heart care for patients.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythm strips.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
• Manage chest tubes and drains effectively.
• Float to all units within skill level as required.

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Post-operative open heart care experience required.
• Critical care experience highly preferred.
• Experience with chest tube and other drain management required.
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips.
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Active Ohio/OH or Compact RN License required.
