Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Telemetry and Renal unit position requiring an OH or compact RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and at least 2 years of experience.
Responsibilities- Position is in a hospital-based General MS/Tele and Renal unit with 28 beds
- Typical patient ratios are 1:4-5
- Nurses interpret telemetry every 4 hours using EPIC EMR
- Patient population includes those with renal conditions and cardiac monitoring needs
- Care includes management of drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin
- Variety of oxygen modalities used: trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula
- Charge nurses are out of ratio on day shift and in ratio on night shift
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Phlebotomy team available for peripheral lab draws
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
- Main responsibilities include ongoing patient assessment, medication administration, and care coordination
- Nurses must pass a pass/fail EKG test on their first day, with two attempts allowed
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Expected to provide care for patients with multisystem organ issues and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide provided)
- Preferred experience with CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis)
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry independently
- EPIC EMR experience preferred, but not required
