Paramedic will provide care and transportation of emergency and non-emergency patients in the pre-hospital environment and at scenes at the Paramedic level of care defined by the Ohio EMS scope of practice. The Paramedic will operate an ambulance safely and efficiently, and will keep current on all required certifications and continuing education.

• Responds to calls and performs patient assessment and triage.
• Performs IV therapy and administers approved medications per Ohio EMS Scope of Practice.
• Performs advanced airway management per Ohio EMS Scope of Practice including needle decompression and advanced airway placement.
• Cardiac monitor strip interpretation all rhythms per scope of practice and defibrillation.
• Participates/attends required/mandatory trainings.
• Provides proper care, safe, and efficient transport.
• Maintains proper reports and records.
• Cares for vehicle and equipment.
• Maintains confidentiality and actively supports patient/family rights.
• Serves as a patient advocate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• May serve as a proctor/educator for students.

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education: Vocational/Technical Degree.

Specialty/Major: Paramedic Certification.

Required: Paramedic Certification (State of Ohio), Valid Driver’s License / AHA Healthcare Provider BLS, AHA ACLS.

Preferred: AHA PALS, NRP, ITLS/PHTL within 6 months of hire, IS 100, IS 700.

1-3 years preferred.

Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 1 year of hire.
