Position PurposeMaintenance Technician with a strong focus on landscaping to help maintain and enhance the school’s outdoor environment. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors by ensuring all grounds and exterior areas are well‑kept year‑round.
Essential Job Functions- Perform daily maintenance of school grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, and watering lawns.
- Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other plantings by weeding, pruning, mulching, and planting as needed.
- Remove litter and debris from outdoor areas including playgrounds, walkways, and parking lots.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides in accordance with safety regulations and district policies.
- Monitor irrigation systems and perform basic troubleshooting and repairs.
- Clear snow and ice from walkways and entry points during winter months (if applicable).
- Inspect outdoor furniture, fencing, and signage for damage or wear and report or perform basic repairs.
- Assist with seasonal grounds preparation and clean‑up.
- Support general maintenance and custodial staff with indoor tasks as needed, especially during off‑peak landscaping seasons.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

EquipmentUses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including saws, drills, routers, planers, sanders, jointers, and stationary power equipment.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Knowledge of building code conformance standards for carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electrical installation, and repair.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and resolve electrical or electricity issues.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards- Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.

- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School Diploma.
- Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, and repair.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.
