SummaryAn Optometric Technician assists optometrists in delivering a world‑class Total Patient Experience, performing initial testing and supporting patient care with optical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide patient support and uphold our Total Patient Experience, fostering strong relationships.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
- Demonstrate urgency and respect for patient and clinician time.
- Operate manual and automated lensometers, autorefractors, retinal cameras, visual field, GDX or OCT equipment.
- Follow testing scripts for equipment such as photos, visual fields, and visual activity.
- Clean and maintain all examination equipment, including tonometer tips.
- Interact courteously and professionally with staff and patients at all levels.
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned.
- Create a positive, patient‑focused team environment.
- Commit to work hours that meet business needs, including weekends and schedule changes.
- Preferred: previous medical office experience; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one year in a customer‑/patient‑facing role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Positive background check result as required by state law.
- Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- None required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Primarily a standard office or clinical setting; travel to other locations may be required.
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), standing (50%). Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
- Lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for grasping, writing/typing, and technology use.
- Visual and auditory acuity required at 100% of the time.
- Occasional driving or climbing may be required.
