Arcado Elementary is seeking a dedicated and skilled EBD teacher to provide specialized instruction and behavioral support for students with emotional and behavioral needs. This role focuses on academic growth, emotional regulation, and creating a structured, supportive classroom environment aligned with the GCPS AKS curriculum.
Qualifications- Licensure: Georgia certification in Special Education (or eligibility).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from a PSC-approved institution.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience preferred, particularly with students with emotional and behavioral needs.
- Strong knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum and instructional best practices
- Understanding of IDEIA, IEP development, and due process procedures
- Expertise in classroom management, de‑escalation, and positive behavior supports
- Ability to differentiate instruction and use diagnostic and formative assessment effectively
- Skilled in collaboration with general education teachers, administrators, families, and support staff
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning
- Provide direct and specially designed instruction aligned to AKS and IEP goals
- Develop and implement individualized academic and behavioral plans
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data
- Maintain compliant documentation and oversee due process requirements
- Create a structured, predictable classroom environment that maximizes learning time
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure inclusion and appropriate accommodations
- Assist with physical or medical needs of students as required
- Participate in professional learning and school-wide initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands
