Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the High School Principal, the Mathematics Teacher is responsible for developing students’ skills and competencies in basic and advanced mathematical principles, equations, formulas, and calculations, as well as fostering an understanding of how mathematics is applied to real‑world and practical problem‑solving.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

Develop and administer a mathematics curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.

Promote a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to individualized, small‑group instruction and student learning.

Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into meaningful learning experiences that challenge students and maximize instructional time.

Teach mathematical knowledge and skills, including but not limited to real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, geometry, and related concepts, while promoting creative thinking and analytical reasoning.

Design learning activities that demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday life and problem‑solving situations.

Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and progress; modify instructional strategies to meet individual student needs, including individual and small‑group instruction as necessary.

Maintain familiarity with standardized testing requirements and adapt curriculum to support student achievement on such assessments.

Continue professional growth by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting educational research.

Maintain accurate and complete records for grading, attendance, and student achievement.

Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.

Ensure student conduct aligns with school policies and establish classroom behavior standards that support a productive learning environment.

Collaborate with other faculty and staff, particularly within grade‑level or subject‑area teams, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.

Select, requisition, and manage instructional materials, textbooks, and equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records.

Additional Duties

Perform other related duties as assigned by the High School Principal.

Equipment Used

Standard office and classroom equipment, including personal computers, printers, and copy machines.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.

Knowledge of a broad range of mathematical subject areas, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and related disciplines.

Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the development of action plans.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to education and students.

Ability to use computer networks and educational software applications effectively.

Strong organizational and coordination skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.

Ability to engage in self‑evaluation for continuous performance improvement and professional growth.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships.

Physical and Mental Demands / Work Environment

Works primarily in standard school and office environments.

Qualifications Profile

Certification/Licensure:

  • ACSI Ceritfication

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a discipline applicable to the teaching assignment

Experience:

Successful prior teaching experience at the appropriate grade level preferred
