DutiesSummary
The Engineer VI supervises the professional and nonprofessional personnel of a major engineering activity; develops procedures and standards for carrying out their specialty in the organization, and represents the organization with authority on technical engineering matters within the area of specialization; may direct a large engineering section or assist in directing a large engineering division or district office as a technical specialist in planning, development, design and/or research;
may lead the efforts of a team engaged in carrying out difficult or critical project assignments with emphasis in the area of specialization; or serves as a staff specialist responsible for overall control and coordination of a number of major and complex engineering projects or programs; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license at the time of application. - Basic Education
: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in engineering. Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply. - Graduating Applicants
:
Applicants who will graduate within three months and will meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements upon graduation may be accepted for examination. Submit a copy of your official transcript and a letter from your department head or registrar verifying current enrollment, expected graduation date, and major. - Engineering Experience
:
Applicants must possess four (4) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience, including at least one (1) year comparable to Engineer V level. - Supervisory or Staff Advisory Experience
:
One (1) year of supervisory or staff advisory experience as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements. - Driver's License
:
Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license. - Substitutions Allowed
