Account Clerk III. Applications are accepted down to Account Clerk I if recruitment difficulties arise.
- Account Clerk I, SR-06: $3,141.00 per month
- Account Clerk II, SR-08: $3,266.00 per month
- Account Clerk III, SR-11: $3,606.00 per month
- Verifies and enters details of costs, charges or other similar bookkeeping items to correct accounts or classifications;
- Receives, processes and deposits cash collections, maintaining appropriate records and consulting specific books or manuals;
- Performs computations such as discount, interest, ratio and percentage; determines rates, costs, amounts for various items, selecting and using tables or classification data;
- Explains details of services, methods or policies; prepares requisitions or purchase orders, places orders for supplies, materials or contract services; processes invoices and prepares vouchers for approval to authorize disbursement;
- Maintains inventory control records;
- Reviews the clerical work of others, correcting procedures and entries;
- Composes correspondence requiring knowledge of methods, procedures and policies; determines general ledger accounts, journals and subsidiary accounts affected and prepares control sheets or other posting documents;
- Totals entries at specified intervals, takes trial balances, determines corrective entries and reconciles accounts;
- May supervise one or more lower-level account clerks or subordinates.
Experience Requirement

Experience:
Demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic and spelling, ability to follow oral and written directions, write simply and directly, and observe differences in words and numbers quickly and accurately. - Specialized
Experience:

Account Clerk III – 0.5 – 2 – 2.5 - Supervisory aptitude required for some Account Clerk III positions; demonstrated through leadership roles, supervisory training, or favorable performance appraisals.
Substitution of Education for Experience
- High school graduation with basic English and arithmetic courses may substitute for six months of general experience.
- Full‑time accounting curriculum leading to a degree or diploma may substitute for specialized experience, up to a maximum of two years.
- Accredited university baccalaureate degrees in accounting may substitute for specialized experience.
Salary – The advertised salary is based on full‑time employment and includes shortage and school‑year differentials, if applicable.
Temporary Assignment (TA) – Claims of temporary assignment experience must be verified with a TA history report, a signed supervisor letter, or SF‑10 forms.
