Overview

A Dock Experts Marine Construction Superintendent plans, coordinates, leads a team of tradespeople, coordinates with contractors, and performs construction work duties on daily, weekly, and project-based activities for marine construction projects. High levels of integrity, accountability, foresight, and an unshakable ability to maintain and inspire a consistent positive, can-do attitude are necessary in upholding TDX quality and safety standards while disrupting and challenging the industry status quo.

This role requires the ability to swim, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, reach, and a valid driver’s license with reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead a team of tradespeople; coordinate with contractors; and perform construction work duties on daily, weekly, and project-based activities for marine construction projects.
  • Provide end-to-end project experience in planning, demolition, construction, installation, service, and maintenance of marine structures such as docks, decks, and piers, through leadership and hands-on work.
  • Guide and oversee drafting, feasibility, permitting requirements, and act as liaison between permitting, drafting, and engineering teams; verify quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship against contract specifications and codes.
  • Develop project schedules in collaboration with branch leadership.
  • Provide daily written reports and communicate expectations with the team, anticipating current and future project needs.
  • Ensure the team has necessary materials, safety equipment, SOP training, coaching, and mentorship to complete projects within TDX standards.
  • Provide quality control oversight of work, both by the team and self-performed tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings and act as a liaison between field engineers and the team to ensure components comply with specifications.
  • Work with engineering staff to ensure plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs are transmitted accurately and timely.
  • Participate in hiring and performance decisions including dismissal as needed.
  • Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities.
  • Resolve conflicts and disputes professionally, within the team and with other company personnel.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with visitors to the site: customers, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, etc.
  • Analyze job safety and efficiency and provide proactive suggestions and solutions for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction and/or 5+ years in marine construction or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, preferably marine construction.
  • Experience managing construction projects including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to make sound decisions and take decisive action quickly.
  • Experience leading a team, with the ability to effectively communicate and consistently motivate to keep projects on or ahead of schedule.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
  • Physical stamina to walk, stand, bend, and lift heavy objects (50+ lbs.) regularly.
  • Ability to work full shift in challenging outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and marine environments.
  • Ability to swim, work at heights, and in confined spaces, as required by certain projects.
  • Ability to pass a controlled substance screening and a background check.
  • Maintain reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work.
  • Conversational in English.
  • Preferred: OSHA 10 & OSHA 30, CPR & First Aid, Class A CDL license.
