Hiring Range:$55,629 to $59,906 (Dependent upon relevant Municipal experience)
Non-CDL Salary:$53,747.50
Full Salary Range:$55,629 – $78,602

Description of PrimaryPurpose:
Under general supervision, operates a variety of vehicles and equipment to maintain the Village’s streets, roadway signage, parks, facilities, storm sewer mains, sanitary sewer mains, water mains and other infrastructure. Performs other duties as assigned. The Public Works Maintenance Technician is a single class position with responsibility for operating various vehicles and equipment and performs semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of the Village’s infrastructure.
This position has no supervisory responsibility. This position is a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 150.
Skills:
Practices and procedures for safe operations of materials, machinery, vehicles, and equipment necessary for street, sewer, parks and building maintenance;
Occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable for public works maintenance. Reading and following work orders;
Use of hand and power tools;
Follow safety precautions and recognize hazards;
Communicate orally and in writing;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Responds to emergency calls outside of normal work hours as needed, which includes, but not limited to ice control and snow removal operations, storm damage, critical utility/infrastructure repairs and severe weather and flooding events.
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- State of Illinois minimum Class B CDL. Dependent upon the candidate, consideration may be given to obtain the required minimum Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license within nine months of hire.

Work involves exposure to confined spaces, potential physical harm, dangerous machinery, hazardous materials and potentially infectious disease and performs moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, climb, kneel, bend, balance, and lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs. with assistance) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
