Responsibilities
  • Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care; engage patients and families through the continuum of care.
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Uphold and promote a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • May administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making; respect interdisciplinary roles and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Appropriate delegation to other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel (e.g., nurse aides, credentialed medical assistants).
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
  • May be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
  • Provide age-appropriate care; demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the life span and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs, following departmental policies and procedures.
Schedule and On-Call
  • Scheduled

    Hours:

    Days;
    Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Full Time - 40 Hours
  • Call

    Required:

    Call every 5th day of the week; weekends include 24 hours of call, during the week call starts at 23:00–07:00; rotation ensures not every weekend is on call; 1–2 weekend on-call shifts for 24 hours from 07:00–07:00; either Saturday or Sunday, not both.
  • Must be ACLS, BLS, PALS certified or obtain within first 30 days of employment.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • Certification / Registration / License:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multistate compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN provides client nursing services.
  • Note:

    Telehealth/telenursing licenses must align with client location state requirements.
  • Experience:

    Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
    • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
    • Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic records.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.
  • Must be able to lift and support up to 35 pounds; push/pull with 30 pounds of force; assist with sliding transfers up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; capable of fine hand manipulation for procedures.
  • May be exposed to chemical hazards, blood, body fluids, and infectious disease; protective equipment provided as needed.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.

    BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
