Technology Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Teaching and Learning
Contract: 12‑Month
Compensation: $90,000–$105,000
Evaluation: Annual performance review in accordance with Board of Education policy
Position OverviewThe Technology Coordinator serves as the senior technical resource responsible for the administration, architecture, reliability, and security of the District’s technology infrastructure.
This role leads the design, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of on‑premises servers, network and wireless systems (LAN/WAN), firewalls, and cloud‑integrated platforms. The Technology Coordinator ensures all systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with instructional needs.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership, Strategic Planning, & Governance
- Direct and evaluate Technology Specialists; establish annual departmental goals and performance metrics
- Collaborate with district leadership to align technology initiatives with curriculum goals and student outcomes
- Identify budget requirements and funding mechanisms to support strategic initiatives
- Develop and maintain formally documented, repeatable procedures for all technical operations
- Facilitate district data analysis priorities and monitor progress toward strategic goals
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and long‑term enhancement of network infrastructure, servers, and computing devices (iPads, Chromebooks, Mac computers)
- Administer authentication services, virtualization, and system integrations
- Support the on‑premises Student Information System (SIS) in coordination with vendor partners
- Maintain accurate device inventories using automated tools (Incident IQ, Jamf, Google Admin)
- Implement weekly processes to identify and quarantine unauthorized devices
- Maintain and update district web presence and communication tools
- Establish documented data governance processes, including sensitivity classifications and secure disposal protocols (NIST 800‑88)
- Enforce Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) and encryption‑at‑rest (AES‑256) for sensitive data
- Operate a recurring vulnerability management program using CVSS risk prioritization
- Maintain centralized audit log reviews to detect unauthorized activity
- Lead the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) and maintain documented incident response playbooks
- Ensure compliance with SOPPA, FERPA, CIPA, E‑rate, and copyright regulations
- Provide infrastructure support for state and local assessments (WIDA, KIDS, IAR, ACCESS, i‑Ready)
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute a strategic professional development plan
- Design and manage a recurring Security Awareness Program, including phishing simulations and authentication training
- Identify and secure funding sources including E‑rate, grants, state funding, and partnerships
- Guide purchasing decisions and evaluate return on investment (ROI)
- Conduct annual security reviews of service provider contracts
- Ensure contracts include breach notification, encryption, and data disposal requirements
Education: Degree in Instructional Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Experience:
- 3–5 years in a technology leadership role
- Experience with staff management and budgeting
Technical Expertise:
- Network administration (servers, infrastructure, security)
- Google Workspace and SIS management
- Working knowledge of CVSS and AES‑256 encryption protocols
- Ability to conduct security audits of service provider contracts
Attributes:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and push/pull up to 10 lbs
