overview of the positionthe director of technology strives to achieve the district 65 mission to ensure academic achievement and personal growth for all students through innovative and engaging educational opportunities. Lake bluff school district 65's vision is to create an inclusive community of motivated learners who are inspired to change the world through exploration and collaboration. The director of technology supports the student outcomes vision by providing leadership for district 65 on the most forward, effective and evidence-based practices in the use of technology and data in the educational field.
He/she provides strategic visionary and operational leadership for all district 65 technology and data activities, including systems integration, data management/integration, and operational support. The director of technology seeks a broad range of relevant emerging technologies to determine their maturity and applicability to district 65. The director of technology builds, coaches, mentors, and facilitates a team to plan, manage and deliver support services.
- oversees all aspects of technology services, including but not limited to: network, infrastructure, document management, student information systems, data management, state reporting, cybersecurity, registration, student data privacy, etc.
- manages student data and assessment systems including rostering and assignment of courses or material.
- provides knowledge, insight, and recommendations regarding the use of technology as a means of improving instructional, curriculum, academic support, and administrative delivery systems.
- partners with other district leaders to define and deliver key strategic, operational, and analytics initiatives.
- aligns technology initiatives to support district curriculum goals and strategic initiatives ensuring improved student outcomes.
- develops and coordinates technology budget and utilization of resources to ensure they align with the strategic initiatives of the district.
- creates and maintains long‑range technology plans and ongoing communications with district 65 staff.
- creates an ongoing assessment and evaluation process for next‑generation technology.
- collaborates with area districts in network meetings for technology curriculum; effectively works with others to solve complex problems.
- ensures that policy and procedures are continuously updated to reflect best practice and are aligned with state and federal law. Policies and procedures should reflect the philosophy of district 65.
- seeks out opportunities to attain revenue for technology initiatives through grants, state funding and/or school, family and community partnerships. Ensure e‑rate funding process is completed.
- collaborates with district 65 staff on implementation of all systems to ensure timing and resources are properly utilized.
- collaborates with district 65 leadership to develop, implement and maintain a strategic professional development plan for educational technology.
- ensures instructional staff apply/use new technology to enhance student outcomes.
- provides and identifies professional development and networking opportunities and resources outside of the district.
- provides supervision and support to district 65 technology support and service staff.
- additional responsibilities as assigned and/or identified throughout the year by the csbo and superintendent.
