Environmental Services - Team Lead

Overview

Major Responsibilities:
Lead co-workers in the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) program and serve as Environmental Services Tech. When in a lead role, responsibilities include coordinating efforts with supervisory staff and supporting the EVS team across shifts.

• Confers and plans ahead with supervisory staff on job assignments, projects and activities.
• Verifies completion of all assigned duties/tasks by Environmental Services staff according to EVS procedures.
• Assists in scheduling Environmental Services staff and adjusts the daily schedule to ensure proper staffing in all areas.
• Functions as Environmental Services Tech, knowing all positions/responsibilities within the department.
• In lead roles: contributes to Hazardous Materials handling, spills and disaster plans; assists in competencies; monitors bed tracking; monitors lunch and breaks; serves as liaison between EVS and customers/staff as needed; coordinates projects/setups; assists with room inspections (high touch items) and related tasks; issues keys, pagers, equipment, etc.; makes suggestions for work improvement.
• Manages supply and equipment use and maintenance; assists in training and introducing new equipment and cleaning methods by demonstrating techniques and procedures.
• Inspects equipment and supplies for cleanliness and potential damage to ensure readiness for next shift use and ongoing maintenance of equipment.
• Communicates associate performance, conduct, issues, etc., to leadership.
• Customer Satisfaction: demonstrates commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding expectations; aims to improve patient and customer satisfaction scores; utilizes AIDET with internal and external customers; identifies and resolves interpersonal conflicts constructively; maintains a positive, courteous attitude with patients, families and staff; maintains confidentiality; uses appropriate chain of command to resolve complaints.
• Trains associates and assists in Department Orientation Process; maintains licenses and certifications as appropriate; fulfills operating unit requirements, competencies, and required training.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Leadership experience preferred
• 3 years experience with at least one in Housekeeping

• Good communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be able to communicate instructions

• Team player; able to work with all levels of personnel; demonstrates flexibility; positive attitude; willingness to learn and cooperate; self-motivated; demonstrates initiative; good written and verbal communication skills.
• EVS product and equipment knowledge; potential exposure to hazardous materials.
• Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting; ability to perform medium lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally, 10 to 15 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
