Join Our Mission at Lambs Farm

At Lambs Farm, we’ve spent more than six decades supporting adults with developmental disabilities in leading healthy, fulfilling lives. Through our residential programs, farmyard, restaurants, and community services, we create environments where participants grow, gain independence, and feel at home.

Nutrition plays a vital role in quality of life, and our Dietary team helps ensure participants receive meals that are safe, nutritious, and tailored to their individual needs. We’re expanding this team to support our growing residential programs—and that’s where you come in.

About This Opportunity

As a Dietary Assistant, you’ll support food ordering, inventory, and distribution across our residential sites while working alongside participants in a meaningful, hands‑on environment. Based at our Libertyville campus with local travel between residences and grocery partners, this role blends organization, food safety, and participant engagement to ensure meals are prepared and stored safely and thoughtfully.

You’ll play a key role behind the scenes—making sure every kitchen is stocked, organized, and compliant—while helping participants build life skills and confidence.

What you’ll accomplish
  • Organize and manage food inventory across residential sites following agency procedures and health department standards
  • Receive, break down, and distribute weekly food deliveries, including grocery pick‑ups and SYSCO orders
  • Monitor cleanliness and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health requirements
  • Work with participants to gather feedback on menus and food preferences
  • Provide optional cooking and food‑related activities that build practical life skills
  • Observe and report any behavioral, medical, or physical changes to nursing staff and supervisors
  • Complete required incident and safety documentation and follow agency emergency procedures
  • Support safe, clean, and well‑organized food storage environments across all residences
What you bring to this role

You’re dependable, detail‑oriented, and enjoy supporting others in practical, meaningful ways. You value cleanliness, structure, and teamwork—and understand how food and nutrition impact overall well‑being.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • DSP certification (or willingness to obtain within 120 days of hire)
  • Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel locally between sites and grocery partners
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage inventory and maintain accurate records
  • Basic computer skills, including email and spreadsheets
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of—or interest in learning about—dietary restrictions and nutritional needs
What We Offer

Work Environment: A hands‑on role across residential homes and community settings, with local travel and a collaborative team focused on participant well‑being.

Growth and Impact: Paid certifications, ongoing training, and the opportunity to directly support participants’ health, independence, and daily quality of life.

Our Values in Action: Work in a respectful, mission‑driven culture where staff and participants collaborate as partners, and every role contributes to safety, dignity, and meaningful living.

Ready to Make a Difference?

Join Lambs Farm and be part of a team that nourishes more than meals—you’ll help support independence, dignity, and well‑being every day.
