We’re seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to lead manufacturing and machining-focused engineering initiatives while developing the leadership skills needed to move into engineering or operations management within the next few years.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys being on the production floor, owning projects end-to-end, and influencing how work gets done — not just designing it. You’ll support CNC machining operations, drive process improvements, partner closely with value stream leaders, and gradually take on broader responsibility for people, projects, and performance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead engineering support for CNC machining operations, working directly on the production floor
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using AP100 or similar G-code platforms
- Troubleshoot machining issues in real time — programs, tooling, setups, and process flow
- Improve part manufacturability through toolpath optimization, fixture design, and cycle time reduction
- Own process improvement projects that impact throughput, quality, and delivery performance
- Partner with production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve engineering challenges
- Lead continuous improvement, Lean, and Kaizen initiatives across machining operations
- Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, routings, and standards
- Track and analyze productivity, quality, and throughput metrics to guide decisions
- Manage engineering projects to ensure on-time execution and results
- Train and mentor operators and junior team members on CNC programming and best practices
- Support capital equipment, automation, and technology improvement initiatives
- Promote a safe, organized, and high-performance manufacturing environment
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years in a manufacturing environment, with deep exposure to CNC machining
- Strong proficiency in G-code programming (AP100 or similar)
- Experience using Solid Works for prints, models, and manufacturability review
- Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing, process flow, and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to lead floor-level engineering support and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Interest in growing into a people or operations leadership role over time
Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
