Position OverviewThe Creative Media Arts Teacher designs and delivers high-quality instruction that integrates artistic expression, digital media, and technology while fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate creates a safe, inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and grow as lifelong learners.
Key Responsibilities Planning & Instruction- Design engaging lessons aligned to curriculum standards and best practices in creative media arts.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate instructional technology and digital tools to enhance creativity and learning.
- Develop clear, high-level learning objectives and assess student progress to inform instruction.
- Establish a classroom culture that is safe, respectful, inclusive, and creativity-focused.
- Manage instructional time, materials, transitions, and student behavior effectively.
- Foster positive, caring relationships with students that honor individual backgrounds and cultures.
- Engage students in meaningful, hands‑on creative experiences.
- Encourage collaboration, inquiry, and authentic creative expression.
- Provide clear directions, thoughtful pacing, and engaging materials that support active learning.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor learning.
- Provide timely, high‑quality feedback that supports student growth and reflection.
- Support students in understanding expectations and evaluating their own work.
- Maintain accurate instructional and non‑instructional records.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with families.
- Collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in school and district initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and a student‑centered mindset.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a middle school endorsement in English and an additional technology education or computer applications endorsement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness.
- Ability to make sound decisions regarding student safety and well‑being.
- Experience effectively integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning.
Salary: Per NSEA New Teacher Hire Grid for the 2026–27 school year.
