The EL Parent Manager is responsible for implementing the goals and objectives of the EL/Bilingual Parent Education Program. The position reports to the Director of Bilingual and Multicultural Education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, develop schedules, and coordinate Multicultural Celebrations, BPAC meetings, and EL parent workshops/classes outside of the FACE department; monitor implementation.
- Organize and maintain records for all classes sponsored by the Bilingual Department (advertising, attendance, evaluations).
- Actively seek and enlist presenters for parent classes.
- Assist instructors with facilities, equipment, curriculum, and supplies.
- Provide oversight of all classes in the EL Family workshop series.
- Expand classes to meet program objectives.
- Maintain physical and electronic files.
- Provide timely and accurate reports to the Director of Bilingual and Multicultural Education.
- Follow up with program participants to ensure they are aware of and utilizing support services.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking attendance of program participants.
- Supervise all EL parent workshops and events.
- Develop and conduct parent workshops.
- Collaborate with community partners for the benefit of EL students and parents, and all district families.
- Create a monthly EL parent newsletter and provide input for the department website.
- Collaborate and communicate with members of the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department consistently.
- Assist in supervising the Family Support Managers in the Bilingual Department; monitor progress and resolve issues using the Early Warning Intervention System and other methods.
- Ensure Family Support Managers provide appropriate interventions for EL students in their respective buildings.
- Work collaboratively with EL department staff to ensure consistency and accuracy of information provided to parents.
- Assist with the ESL (STEPS) program coordination and facilitation.
- Manage the Bilingual Department website.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Biliterate in Spanish.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship, communication, and organizational skills with a demonstrated professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
- Proficient in written and oral English.
- Willingness to work non‑traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
- Capability to collaborate with a diverse team.
- Creative and innovative problem‑solving approach.
- High energy level.
- Computer literacy required.
- Desktop publishing skills a plus.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- High experience in a busy, highly energetic environment.
- Work experience with parents and schools is a plus.
Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
Terms of Employment12 months.
