Who We Are

Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 14,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop the annual application and any required amendments; keep up to date with changing laws and guidelines; develop program descriptions and prepare required budgets; maintain records and documentation of expenditures for annual audit review; review and approve purchase requests; revise budgets as needed.
  • Ensure the compliant operation of Title I in non-public schools, including timely and meaningful consultation meetings with non-public school representatives; arrange for any services being provided to a non-public school from an outside agency.
  • Oversee all questions regarding supplemental and supersubstituting issues for categorical funds.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology Department to maintain a current inventory of equipment purchased with Title I funds.
  • Maintain student assessment records to comply with submission of the Title I Annual Performance Report.
  • Coordinate the School Improvement process for the district.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities related to school improvement plans throughout the district.
  • Promote and develop opportunities for parent and community involvement in the school and district improvement process.
  • Meet regularly with all principals on the operations of all federal programs.
  • Coordinate reporting with the District Homeless Liaison.
  • Pursue additional resources through the development and submission of grants.
  • Provide school presentations regarding school improvement and Title I components.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Director of Secondary Education.
Qualifications
  • Commitment to the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.
  • Openness to feedback and willingness to take personal responsibility.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master's Preferred) and hold or be eligible for the required Illinois State administrator certification.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Programs (Title I, Title II, etc.) and the School Improvement Process (SIP).
  • Be able to successfully work in a collaborative environment.
  • Able to mediate and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to interact with teachers, parents, outside agencies, and central services staff.
Work Environment

Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.

Safety

The employee is responsible for taking any and all steps necessary to protect yourself and others against occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

Terms of Employment

Twelve months.
