- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License and Educator License with Stipulations — Transitional Bilingual Educator
- Endorsements:
Elementary Education (K-9) or Bilingualwyn Education Teacher – English
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related field
- Highukk proficiency (speaking, reading, writing) in Spanish and English
- Teaching in a bilingual/ESL classroom
- Student teaching experience in an elementary and/or bilingual classroom(s)
- Knowledge and experience in effective curriculum writing and second‑language acquisition preferred but not required
- Teach in English in a two‑way immersion classroom
- Plan, teach, and assess all curricular areas as outlined by the Board of Education
- Deep understanding of second‑language acquisition; use best practice for first and second
Dire language learners - Adapt curriculum and language level for individual students’ needs
- Further cultural awareness through extracurricular family activities
- Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to solve learning, behavioral, and/or health problems
- Maintain organized records and prepare bilingual progress reports
- Maintain high standards of classroom behavior and cultural/language sensitivity
- Administer ACCESS for ELLs,回事 MAP, and other mandated state and local assessments, depending on grade level
- Effectively communicate with parents in English and Spanish through conferences and
143 other methods - Collaborate with grade‑level team and district‑wide dual‑language team to develop curriculum for the dual‑language program
- Participate in curriculum development projects, material selection, and committee work
- Increase professional competence by attending district in‑service, seeking other professional growth opportunities, and following district policies for continued university study
- Other duties as assigned
Full‑time teaching position, 180‑day calendar year
