Human Resources Assistant
Salary Range: $22.83 To $24.70 Annually
Clay County is seeking a detail-oriented and highly professional Human Resources Assistant to provide essential administrative and clerical support to our Human Resources Department. This role operates in a highly confidential capacity, performing work of moderate difficulty within public sector human resources, payroll, benefits administration, wellness, and risk management.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver dedicated to providing exemplary customer service to our employees while maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
Primary Responsibilities- Create, compose, and edit complex correspondence, memoranda, charts, and reports; ensure all materials are accurate and complete.
- Serve as the first point of contact for the HR Department, managing phone inquiries and greeting guests with professionalism.
- Provide guidance to new and existing employees regarding HR questions and concerns.
- Plan and execute health-related activities, including health screenings, nutrition programs, seminars, and annual health fairs.
- Develop initiatives to improve employee mental, emotional, and physical health, prioritizing overall wellness and ROI.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to speak, read, and understand English fluently.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Survey Monkey, Canva and database management.
- Demonstrated empathy, initiative, and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and work independently without direct supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized coursework in office practices, accounting, or bookkeeping.
- 1–3 years of increasingly responsible experience in Human Resources or a related field.
- A reputation for honesty and trustworthiness; must pass a background check
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Prior experience in public sector employment or government HR.
- Proficiency with ADP software.
Clay County offers a collaborative and professional work environment dedicated to serving the citizens of Missouri.
