We are seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to support a fast-paced metals manufacturing operation. This role serves as the sole HR presence at the plant and is responsible for the full employee lifecycle, partnering closely with plant leadership to drive a safe, compliant, and engaged workforce. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing strategic HR initiatives with day-to-day plant floor support.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary HR contact for all plant employees and leadership
- Manage full-cycle recruiting and onboarding for hourly and salaried roles
- Provide employee relations support, including coaching, conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions
- Administer HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook consistently and fairly
- Support performance management, employee development, and succession planning efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.)
- Partner with plant leadership on workforce planning, attendance, and engagement initiatives
- Coordinate benefits administration, leave management, and workers’ compensation claims
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
- Support training initiatives, safety programs, and culture-building efforts across the plant
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience serving as a standalone HR professional strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on, plant-based environment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with both hourly production employees and leadership teams
- A self-starter who takes ownership and follows through
- Someone who is visible on the plant floor and builds trust with employees
- Practical, people-focused, and solutions-oriented
- Able to balance compliance, consistency, and compassion
