Overview
Position Title:
CT Technologist - Weekend Overnights
Location:
Liberty Hospital
Shift: Weekend Overnights - Fri. Sat. Sun.
- 6pm - 6:30am
The CT Technologist is responsible for producing images that provide cross-sectional imaging for the purpose of diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education.
Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions- Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists when called upon for special projects approved by the Radiology Department leadership team.
- Assists with developing continuing education strategies with the CT Department to enrich staff long term.
- Participates in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
- Ensures that all staff operate equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures and protocols.
- Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations. Uses equipment safely and sets radiation exposure to achieve the lowest dose for reasonable image quality as overseen by staff radiologists.
- Maintains an organized flow of patients scheduled, coordinates examinations efficiently, and performs exams in a sequence that minimizes the patient’s hospital stay.
- Has excellent working knowledge of contrast reactions and responses and can respond immediately to patient needs.
- Completes mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor/senior supervisor.
- Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard, with growing ability to perform specialty studies with experience.
- Sets equipment parameters, provides patient assessment and education, prepares patients, and provides venous access for safe administration of contrast material.
- Supports the Mission and Vision of KU Hospital and the desire to reach "World Class" status.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Performs the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

- High School Graduate or GED. OR
- Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology;
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience performing basic CT procedures.
- 1 or more years of large facility experience.
- Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT within 180 Days
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - State Board of Healing Arts within 90 Days
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - AHA
- Radiography (R) - ARRT; ARRT required to apply for Computed Tomography (CT).
- Advanced computer skills related to RIS, PACS, EMR.
