About the Role
As a Department Manager
, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. You’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit, helping you, your team, and H&M succeed. Ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues. Be aware of your store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors. Analyze and follow up on sales, and create plans to optimize results and profits.
Day in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same. A typical day will include the following responsibilities:
- You are responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines
- Representing yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions
- Be aware of and take responsibility for your department’s strengths and identifying commercial opportunities and acting on them
- Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results
- Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that your team can actively promote and sell products
- Ensure your team actively promotes our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in-store sustainability initiatives
- Manage your department in a cost-efficient way
- Ensure correct routines in fitting rooms and checkout, including transactions, returns, and exchanges
- Ensure all admin routines for both people and operations are handled correctly
- Keep up-to-date with fashion scene, trends, tendencies, styles, brands, products, competitors and relevant influencers
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge during customer interactions
- Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, upskilling, and developing your team in-store
- Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs
- Retain and share knowledge and skills with your team
- Collaborate with the in-store Visual Merchandiser team
- Give and receive feedback to learn, develop, and support each other
- Responsible for team planning and scheduling
- Regular communication to store colleagues to inform, motivate and inspire – daily, weekly meetings, etc.
- Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements in all areas of the store are followed
- Participate in onboarding and trainings relevant to your role and future development
- Maintain a clean and tidy sales floor and back of house including stockroom areas
- Ensure high fashion quality, visual and commercial product presentation, with good garment care
- Maintain stock levels and provide input on allocation to Area team
- Ensure full garment cycle – from delivery to presentation – and fitting room routines are aligned with standards
- Follow best practices for in-store OMNI services and in-store tech tools (Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.)
- Maintain price signs in-store and throughout the sales floor according to guidelines
- Update and maintain BOH areas with key information, health & safety, tidiness, etc.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store daily

Compensation
: expected base salary range is 18.98–22.39 hourly
