A Machinist manufactures and machines parts for use in rupture disc assemblies in accordance with company manufacturing procedures and safety policies. This is a 2nd shift position - 2pm-10pm.

Essential functions include:

  • Determine setup requirements, sequence of operations and tolerance of finished parts using blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals and instructions.
  • Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material as needed to set guides for subsequent machining.
  • Machine bar stock to specified dimensions.
  • Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications using precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Intermediate math and reading skills.
  • Working knowledge of Okuma lathes, mills and other industrial equipment used in the machine shop.
  • Heavy Okuma lathe experience required.
  • Ability to modify CNC programs.
  • Motor skills sufficient to successfully and safely use required tools and machinery.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for majority of scheduled shift, typically 8-10 hours per day, though possibly more when overtime is required.
  • Using proper lifting techniques, ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Willingness and ability to follow all manufacturing procedures and company policies.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Concern for quality, accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to stay on task and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others, including peers, supervisors, executive management and outside vendors, representatives and visitors when called upon.
  • High school diploma or GED. Certificate in CIMM or related industrial technology preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a job shop or similar high-mix, low volume production environment.
