Job Summary
Cost Engineer supports the NPI (New Product Introduction) process by analyzing and managing project costs to ensure projects are completed within budget. They develop cost estimates, budgets, and schedules, and monitor expenses to identify and resolve cost overruns. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and ensure cost-effective project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Estimating: Perform feasibility studies for new product ideas by developing cost estimates through analyzing market analysis, product designs, and manufacturing processes.
- Budgeting: Creating project budgets and schedules, and ensuring they are aligned with project goals and resources.
- Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective cost management.
- Market Research: Staying informed about current market prices for materials, labor, processes, and other resources.
- Cost Control: Monitoring project expenses, identifying cost variances, and implementing cost-saving measures through the NPI process.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all cost estimation and BOM cost through all activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in cost estimating and budgeting software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of project management principles.
- Knowledge of engineering and steel product manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or finance field.
- Relevant experience in cost engineering or project controls.
- Ability to work in both an office or manufacturing environment 40+ hours per week.
- Exposure to manufacturing and testing environments, including noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when required to observe processes or products.
- Primarily in an office setting in Liberty, KY.
- Travel required via personal vehicle between plant locations along Highway 127 between Dunnville HQ and north of Liberty, Kentucky.
