Description

The Digital Media Practices Program at Tulane University in New Orleans seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor (1-year appointment, nonrenewable) to begin July 2026. This role requires experience teaching beginner and intermediate video production classes, focusing on building students’ technical competencies and digital storytelling skills.

Teaching responsibilities include DMPC 2001:
Intro to Digital Filmmaking (4 sections) and DMPC 2002:
Narrative Filmmaking (2 sections), with additional classes as needed. All courses are taught in person. Additional duties encompass curricular planning and coordination with program members, and advising students academically and professionally.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a related field and/or significant professional experience in a media field
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness with industry-standard video equipment and software
  • Demonstrated experience and enthusiasm teaching beginners
  • Knowledge of industry trends and career pathways for students interested in digital media
  • Ability to use and teach AVID Media Composer or willingness to learn before August 2026; training may be provided upon request
  • Ability to use and move a variety of camera equipment and filmmaking gear
