Mobile Building Engineer – Wymott
We are excited to offer a permanent Mobile Building Engineer position based at HMP Wymott covering North West England.
Standard hours are 39 hours per week (08:00-17:00). Off‑call rota and weekend work (1 in
4) with a 15% additional allowance. A call‑out rota also applies.
The role involves travel across six establishments in the region, with occasional visits to other regions and site‑based work as required.
A work van and fuel card will be provided.
Responsibilities- Provide a variety of maintenance and reactive tasks, with attention to detail and uncompromising compliance.
- Act as a trained assistant purchaser in one or more principles across the region.
- Follow Amey/MOJ/HMPPS security protocols, including tool management.
- Carry out any additional duties commensurate with the role.
- Assist with escorting duties as required.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Relevant NVQ/qualifications within a maintenance discipline.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and work at height.
- Good all‑round project management knowledge.
- Experience in fire door maintenance, fire extinguisher maintenance, fire alarm core points.
- Experience in emergency lighting, residual current devices (RCD) and water temperature testing.
- IT skills and basic health and safety knowledge.
- Knowledge of building and system compliance (training can be provided).
- Willingness to qualify for Amey confined spaces AP responsibilities.
- Experience working within a custodial environment (desirable).
- Prison security clearance including DBS will be required;
