Summary:
At an exciting time in the Schools and Trusts journey, we are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant to join our caring and ambitious staff team here at Northbrook Primary Academy, working within our new SEND Unit for children with Special Educational Needs, specifically speech, language and communication.
Our SEND Unit, which will open in January, will be a nurturing and inclusive environment designed to meet the needs of pupils with a range of additional learning needs, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a developing provision, shaping practice and making a real difference to children's lives.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced practitioner with a passion for inclusion and supporting children with SEND. They will work alongside the assistant headteacher, who has responsibility for SEND and inclusion. You will plan and deliver high‑quality learning experiences tailored to individual needs, and support with the assessment of pupils, developing resources and the learning environment.
This position is full time, permanent and term‑time only plus inset days. Working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.

Essential Qualifications- HLTA or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (or the willingness to work towards)
- Ability to make effective use of ICT
- First‑Aid qualification (qualification not essential at point of application; training will be given if required)
- Professional development relevant to the post

- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience of working with children with SEND (specifically speech, language and communication needs)
- Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
- Experience of working with students with medical needs
- Experience of working in a relevant classroom environment
- Experience of administrative work
