As a Straightener, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high‑energy production environment with a strong focus on safety and quality in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless‑steel car bodies for the best rail vehicles in the world.
What your day‑to‑day will look like- Adjust welded car body assemblies via heat or cold straightening to ensure compliance with all dimensions and tolerance specifications.
- Read and understand manufacturing drawings to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Verify work using proper tools and equipment such as straight edge, tape measure, and templates.
- Repair fabrication errors according to defined repair procedures.
- Complete work order documentation, quality documents, and accurately clock labor hours.
- Safely use hand, power, induction machine and welding tools.
- Meet company standards for quality and workmanship.
- Meet production schedule, quality requirements, and budgeted labor hours with limited supervision.
- Follow all safety requirements, including use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Contribute to and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- High school education or state‑recognized GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing or similar environment in painting or similar materials.
- Must have basic English skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, contracted services and other employees within the Company.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and technical documentation.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

- Job duties may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle objects or tools.
- Frequent verbal communication is necessary; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors.
- Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds is required.
- Specific vision abilities include: close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
