Position description
The Department of Politics at Washington and Lee University invites applications for an open‑rank, 1‑year visiting position (with possibility of renewal) in Comparative Politics or International Relations beginning July 1, 2026. This is a non‑tenure‑track appointment with a teaching load of six courses per year (2–3–1). The school calendar consists of two 13‑week terms (fall and winter) and a 4‑week spring term.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach sections of the Department’s introductory course in Global Politics and an upper‑level course related to the candidate’s field of expertise. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is highly desirable.

QualificationsA completed Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field is required by the time of appointment, which begins July 1, 2026.
