Job Duties- The Virginia Military Institute (VMI), a small NCAA Division I institution located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley of Southwest Virginia, is seeking a qualified coach to fill the position of Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Assistant Coach, with primary responsibilities in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events in the Southern Conference.
- Assist in organizing and directing all phases of the Track and Field Program.
- Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes.
- Coordinate team travel arrangements.
- Design and implement training programs focused on athlete development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement
- Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic department, and VMI administration to support student-athlete academic progress and personal development
- Perform administrative duties and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Ensure compliance with VMI, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Coaching experience or experience as a collegiate student-athlete in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events at the collegiate or high school level
- Current USATF Level I certification and/or USTFCCCA Jump Event Specialist certification
- 4 years of coaching experience
- USATF Level II certification (preferred in sprints or jumps)
- USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning certification
- Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Work well within a team environment and meet deadlines while balancing multiple tasks.
