Position Summary:

Manufacturing Operator role is to perform assembly of components and products with detailed instructions in a standardized way. Operates limited number of stations (usually 1 to
3). Performs assembly tasks at all types of production lines e.g. drives, mounts, tsk, and engines.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Punctuality and daily attendance.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting of parts from and to baskets.
  • Operate various production equipment including, but not limited to, air‑operated hand‑held fastener torquing tools, multi‑spindle torquing tools, bridge cranes, manipulators, special assembly fixtures, leak‑test equipment, and quality checking tools.
  • Housekeeping of areas other than immediate workstation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform in a team environment.
  • Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.
Within the framework of VPS/Quality/Environment:
  • Do your job, improve your job, develop yourself and develop your team.
  • Follow all quality work instructions to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
  • Follow all environmental work instructions to ensure adherence to Volvo requirements and other legal obligations.
  • Initiate kaizens and participate in cross‑functional kaizens, as needed.
Skills and Knowledge

Required:

  • Requires the ability to read, write, and follow instructions both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to participate in a team‑spirited atmosphere.
  • A full range of vision and hand/foot coordination is required to operate equipment.
  • Accountability:
    Accept responsibility for actions, performance, and personal improvements.
  • Requires on‑the‑job training.
  • Must be able to lift heavy parts.
Equipment Used and Working Environment:
  • Both powered and manually operated hand tools, conveyor assemble lines, air‑powered hand‑held tools, multi‑spindle fastener torquing tools, bridge cranes, manipulators, special assembly fixtures, leak test equipment, quality checking tools, and special equipment to check the function of the product.
  • Safety shoes.
  • Gloves.
  • Hearing protection.
  • The environment is fast paced, team oriented, well lit, clean, temperature controlled, and sometimes hectic.
Education and Experience:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
