Job Summary
Training Leads are responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive training within their department. They mentor new hires and transfers, ensuring proficiency in processes, tools, safety standards, documentation, and productivity expectations. This role includes retraining employees as needed, maintaining accurate training records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Training Leads act as departmental mentors, backup team leads, and floaters when not actively training, while fostering professional development through ongoing learning and cross‑training.
Candidates must demonstrate mastery of departmental processes, strong communication and leadership skills, and a commitment to uphold company values and standards.
- Responsibilities / Expectations
- A. Coordinate all training in the department.
- B. Willingness to flex to another shift for a short period of time in order to train or re‑train employees.
- C. Train and mentor new hires and transfers from other departments in all facets of the department.

- 3. Safety
- 4. BOMs, Discrete Paperwork, and Method Sheets
- 5. 6S for the department
- D. Re‑train employees as needed.
- E. Complete and submit required training documentation for employees such as the Training Matrix and Training Progress Reports.
- F. Serve as a floater when not training – still expected to participate in job functions.
- G. Serve as back‑up team lead.
- H. Follow up and evaluate new hires to ensure they are performing their job properly.
- I. Communicate with Team Leads, Supervisors, and Training Department.
- J. Participate in continuous improvement for their departments.
- K. Participate in ongoing professional development training.
- Requirements
- L. Commitment – must be willing to serve at least 1 full year in the trainer role.
- M. Nidec Values – must demonstrate behavior and attitude that is aligned with the Nidec values.
- N. Good standing – attendance and discipline per job bid policy.
- O. Proficiency Levels
- 1. Demonstrated mastery of the process in their dept.
- 2. Demonstrated understanding of the step before and after that process.
- 3. Demonstrated mastery of reading method sheets.
- 4. Demonstrated mastery of reading Bill of Materials (BOMs) and other documentation related to the process.
- 5. Demonstrated ability to teach and train others.
- P. Must participate in continuous learning workshops to broaden both soft and hard skills.
- 1. This includes cross‑training in other processes or departments.
- 2. Developing soft skills in communication, conflict resolution, leadership, etc.
