Job Description
- Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, regional, and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc…) for assigned locations and groups.
- Ensure that local policies and procedures for safe work are established, implemented, and followed at assigned work locations.
- Lead location/area managers and teams in promoting and practicing safe operating procedures.
- Develop and implement procedures for local compliance with corporate incident reporting and investigation programs.
- Provide EHS technical expertise to local investigation teams, identifying root causes and suggesting corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Develop, arrange, implement, and conduct EHS training to maintain regulatory compliance for assigned location(s) and or organization(s).
- Occasionally travel to assigned locations/sites for general inspections.
- Detect existing or potential EHS hazards and determine corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain and execute an EHS compliance calendar for all required regulatory and policy activities.
- Serve in a management leadership capacity on EHS-related committees for assigned locations and organizations.
- Ensures mandatory regulatory event reporting (such as annual OSHA 300 log, notifications of serious accidents, hospitalizations, or deaths).
- Lead local systems (procedures, call trees, messaging systems, etc.) for EHS regulatory agency inspections and site contact/visits.
- Develop local systems (procedures, equipment specifications, training, secure volunteers etc.) for location emergency response and performance.
- Provide leadership of location(s) emergency response capability, including necessary drills and training.
- Maintain and analyze local and corporate performance metrics.
- Collaborate with site management to develop corrective action plans and set goals for enhancing EHS compliance performance in the upcoming year.
- Analyze and communicate EHS data trends and compliance performance.
- Lead location EHS review meetings with location leadership team, EHS Corporate and other applicable higher management levels.
- Conduct annual reviews and audits of assigned locations to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and regulations. Develop corrective action plans as needed.
- Plan and implement environmental compliance programs, including obtaining permits and or submitting reports related to water discharge, air permitting, solid waste and other waste streams.
- Ensure systems are in place for environmental testing and record keeping.
- Evaluate and promote sustainability initiatives based on company or location requirements.
- Ensure the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management system complies with local, state, and national regulations.
- Implement and maintain hazardous chemical monitoring programs as necessary for location(s) or organization(s).
- Serve as the local EHS representative for capital projects, reviewing for uncontrolled hazards, impacts, and permitting requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to address EHS impacts related to new processes, equipment, or building modifications.
- Develop local procedures, training, and leadership to ensure proper usage of the company’s EHS management database systems.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of EHS corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with local facilities and maintenance engineering, as well as participate in Corporate Loss Control Insurance program activities, including inspections and corrective action.
- Serve as local EHS support for corporate functional groups (e.g., HR, Risk Management), providing medical and workers’ compensation services to establish care, treatment, and claim management for on-the-job injuries.

- OSHA Compliance – Ensures workplace practices, policies, and environments meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Risk Assessment – Identifies potential hazards, assesses risks, and implements preventive measures.
