Overview
The Advanced Sensors and Techniques Group operates the Lincoln Space Surveillance Complex (LSSC) that comprises the Millstone deep-space satellite tracking radar, the Haystack Ultra-wideband Satellite Imaging Radar (HUSIR) and the Haystack Auxiliary imaging radar (HAX). All these radars are remotely controlled from the Lexington Space Situational Awareness Center (LSSAC) which serves as a data processing and fusion node for the LSSC and other ground and space-based space surveillance sensors.
Together, the LSSC and LSSAC serve as an operational test bed for space situational awareness technologies and provide access to a rich set of radar and optical data. The group s current research and development efforts focus on problems such as tracking and identification of newly launched satellites, tracking and discrimination of satellites in geosynchronous clusters, automated radar image exploitation, close approach monitoring and collision warning, applications of mullti-sensor data fusion, and decision support.
The group is also developing a net-centric, service-oriented information system.
This position will support group 92 IT needs. This will include installing, updating, maintaining and troubleshooting all necessary software products required to operate PCs, workstations and servers. Operating systems supported include Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Unix. Applications include Microsoft Office, Network Associates McAfee virus scan, Sygate firewall and anti-spyware, Adobe Acrobat, and Mathworks and any other applications or software requested by Staff.
Provide support for the backup operations of the group 92 file servers. Troubleshooting network and network printing problems. Must have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
Education: Accredited college coop program with at least one-year with a Computer Science background. Microsoft certification a plus.
ExperienceExperience: At least one year of direct related software experience on PCs, workstations. Must be knowledgeable in the use of various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Apple and Unix) as well as application software products (Microsoft Office, McAfee Anti-virus). Should have basic understanding of networking.
Compensation- Technical Co-Op: $24.50 – $31.00 per hour (based on year in school)
- Administrative Co-Op: $21.50 – $25.00 per hour (based on year in school)
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
