General SummaryUnder general supervision, instructs students in English skills such as grammar usage, vocabulary expansion, composition techniques and applications, literature comprehension, etc. Assists in other school programs as assigned.

- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based society.
- Teaches concepts and skills based on state standards that facilitate learning and contribute to students' academic and personal development.
- Teaches skills and concepts in vocabulary, grammar, writing, literature, reading, speaking and listening.
- Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; collaborates with other staff members to analyze assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects.
- Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
- Networks with school personnel regarding scheduling issues.
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, etc.
- Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, social and emotional needs, behavior, and personal and academic goals and expectations, etc.; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents/guardians of students' progress; suggests interventions as appropriate.
- If applicable, supervises activities of assigned instructional assistants which involve such duties as planning and reviewing work, as well as providing instruction, guidance and training.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Responsible for supervision of students in classrooms, field studies and other instructional settings. Responsible for classroom materials and supplies budget (if applicable). Responsible for maintenance and inventory of equipment; responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions and safety issues.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies. Must be able to access reliable transportation.
