Team Leader

The Team Leader assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in executing operational, sales, and merchandising objectives while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. The position promotes a safe, productive work environment, trains team members on corporate policies, and upholds company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work scheduled shifts and be available for varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
  • Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Deliver Legendary Customer Service through the GURA® process:
    • Greet the Customer.
    • Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants.
    • Recommend Product Solutions.
    • Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
  • Perform a combination of the following duties for 95 % of the shift, with variations as needed:
    • Execute assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
    • Perform Opening/Closing procedures.
    • Transport and make deposits to the bank.
    • Assess store conditions and assign duties.
    • Organize and prioritize workflow through the daily planner.
    • Recover merchandise.
    • Participate in mandatory freight processes.
    • Perform regular and promotional price change activities.
    • Resolve customer complaints/issues and ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
    • Adhere to loss‑prevention standards and respond to alarm calls as needed.
    • Communicate with Team Members on job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals.
    • Operate cash register/computer and supervise cash‑handling procedures.
    • Assist Team Members with policies and procedures.
    • Ensure the safety and well‑being of birds; sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
    • Operate forklift and baler.
    • Complete all documentation associated with the above duties.
    • Obtain required licenses or certifications as needed by the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Retail experience and/or knowledge of farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum age 18 years. Valid driver’s license required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to perform and execute the principal responsibilities of Team Members.
Working Conditions
  • Favorably indoor working environment with moderate noise.
  • Shifts vary – typically no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally hardwood or concrete; lighting and temperature adequate.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper material‑handling equipment.
  • Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
  • Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Safely access all store areas including buying floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Operate equipment such as forklift, baler, computer, cash register (forklift and baler not required for under 18).
  • Use computer, cash register, and other store equipment continuously.
  • Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing effectively with team members and customers.
  • Process information/merchandise through the POS system.
  • Handle birds/poultry as required.
  • Complete required training and certifications (e.g., propane).
  • Travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
  • Position is non‑sedentary.
