Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Lexington, NC
A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled RN with Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) experience, specializing in telemetry care. This contract position is based in Lexington, NC, offering a chance to apply your expertise in a dynamic 20-bed unit within a Level 1 Trauma Designation teaching hospital.

This facility is a well-established academic medical center, equipped with 885 licensed beds and recognized centers including Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. The unit focuses primarily on medical patients with diverse diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, kidney, liver, GI, respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, wounds, and more. While mostly medical patients are cared for, occasional general surgery patients may be admitted.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Manage patient care for a telemetry/medical-surgical unit with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Provide advanced nursing care including tracheostomy care, chest tube management, IV starts, wound care including wound vacs, dressing changes, and drain care
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and participate in cardiac strip checks during shifts
• Administer and monitor non-titrating IV drips such as Heparin, Lasix, Protonix; experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone preferred (training available)
• Collaborate with a support team including CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, residents, respiratory therapists, and phlebotomists

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Med Surg nursing required; no first-time travelers accepted
• Current RN license along with BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong competency in telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and IV therapy
• Knowledge of EMR systems such as EPIC is essential

Schedule and Work Environment:

• Night shift: 1830 to 0700 with weekend rotation every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required approximately 50% of contract holidays
• Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation and 2 shifts on the unit
• Free parking and professional royal blue scrubs provided
