The Senior Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and leading maintenance activities in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment
. This role requires strong critical thinking, asset judgment, and leadership to balance production demands, equipment reliability, and safety. The Scheduler works closely with production leadership, maintenance teams, procurement, and vendors to drive uptime, minimize downtime, and proactively manage asset risk through effective CMMS utilization.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize preventive and predictive maintenance for production and facility assets.
- Lead and direct maintenance personnel on asset priorities, daily schedules, and work execution.
- Apply critical thinking to assess asset condition, safety risks, and production impact when determining maintenance focus.
- Make real-time decisions on asset prioritization during active production.
- Create, assign, and manage work orders in the CMMS
, ensuring accuracy, urgency, and proper sequencing. - Identify, anticipate, and escalate asset safety and reliability risks before failures occur.
- Serve as a key point of coordination between maintenance, production, and vendors.
- Communicate schedule changes, priorities, and risks clearly to all stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history.
- Track and report KPIs including downtime, MTTR, MTBF, and asset performance metrics
. - Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement to ensure availability.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices
.
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance scheduling, planning, or lead/supervisory roles within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence maintenance teams without direct authority.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
. - Proficiency with CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo, or similar).
- Ability to prioritize assets and direct maintenance efforts during production.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
. - Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field
.
