Engineering Services Director performs difficult technical professional work related to the planning, design, construction, and administration of a variety of public infrastructure projects in the Engineering Department. Works closely with other City departments as well as NC Department of Transportation. This position requires use of local, state, and federal specifications, and regulations for the development of projects. Work requires the use of technical expertise, judgment, and discretion.

Work involves considerable contact with the public, contractors, and other City employees. Provides highly responsible and complex technical support to the City Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or closely related field
• Considerable years of engineering or related experience
• Registration as Professional Engineer in North Carolina
• Five years of supervisory experience
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively during public presentations
• Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state driver’s license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within sixty days of employment and good driving record

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Paid bi-weekly.
Must be able to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, and attend meetings as required.
