ResponsibilitiesA Day in the Life of a Deadstock Driver
As a Deadstock Driver, you will be responsible for picking up dead hogs, cattle and meat scraps from farm sites on a daily route. You will drive a straight truck or a tractor-trailer, collecting materials from multiple customers along your route each day. You will be responsible for managing your route with an onboard computer (OBC) and keeping an up-to-date paper log for compliance purposes.
You will take responsibility for your truck, keep it clean and complete a vehicle condition report on a daily basis. You will provide exceptional professional service to all customers while following all laws and regulations. You will enjoy being on the road for a living while still being at home every night.
Minimum Qualifications for a Deadstock Driver
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Good driving record
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL driver's license.
- Must be registered on the FMCSA Clearinghouse
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior route experience within a customer oriented environment preferred.
- Experience with truck hydraulics a plus.
- Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
- Highly organized; superior time management skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.
- Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
- Must be able to handle outside elements, summer heat and winter cold.
- Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods.
- Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally push, pull, up to 100 lbs.
- Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly.
- Ability to work weekends and/or overtime as needed.
