Research Assistant

About the Opportunity

The Research Assistant (Neuroinformatics) in the Computational Optics and Translational Imaging (COTI) Lab at Northeastern University will support NIH-funded projects focused on advancing neuroimaging research through the development of open-source software and data-sharing platforms. The role involves developing AI-driven neuroimaging data processing, automation, and open-source packages and libraries for sharing these functionalities with the broader research community. This RA will also contribute to web development and database management for the data sharing portal website.

• The candidate should have hands-on experience in programming and software development, with proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and Type Script.
• A solid foundation in machine learning, large-data processing and software development, including Python, HTML, CSS, and other web frameworks, is essential.
• Candidates should have excellent skills in software engineering best practices, including version control, unit testing, source code management, documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
• Candidates with prior experience in graphical user interface design, data visualization, and the publication and maintenance of high-quality software projects will be favorably considered.
• Good writing and communication skills are desired.

• Develop automated and AI-driven metadata extraction, query, and data processing pipelines and integrate with the web-based interface (45%).
• Implement and manage backend systems, including database management, metadata indexing, user query, and uploading new datasets for efficient data storage and retrieval (25%).
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web-based platforms to support large-scale neuroimaging data sharing (20%).
• Develop documentation, tutorials, and training materials for workshops; contribute to publications (10%).

Expected Hiring Range: $47,890.00 - $65,848.75
