Mechanical Engineer

Candidates must have Active Top Secret DoD Clearance

The Mechanical Engineering Group provides innovative design solutions for advanced technology prototypes which include: laser communication, high-energy lasers, optical sensors, radar antennas, for systems deployed on ground, maritime, air- and space-borne platforms. The group has expertise in precision engineering, opto-mechanics, mechanisms, electronics packaging, large structures, lightweight structures, composite materials and additive manufacturing.

Will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide support for the mechanical design and testing of complex mechanical, opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.

• Design, integration, and testing of complex hardware from conceptual design through fabrication and field performance evaluation.
• Knowledgeable in a broad range of challenging problems involving structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, optics and electronics.
• Work in close-knit teams with design, analysis and test personnel.
• Enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self–starters able to work independently, or as part of a group.
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to present status/results to internal and external audiences.
• Position may require travel to meetings and field sites.

• Experience in mechanical design, assembly and environmental testing of high reliability electronic, electro-optic, mechanisms, or opto-mechanical systems for DoD or aerospace applications.
• Experience with Solid Works 3D CAD software.

• Demonstrated experience with the development of opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical systems utilized on spacecraft and/or aircraft strongly preferred.
• Experience in DoD, military, and/or aerospace applications highly preferred.
• Opto-Mechanical experience would be highly preferred.

BS Degree in technical discipline is required (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering) and 7+ years of relevant experience; OR MS Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
